This nonprofit theater company was established in 2022 with a twofold mission: to perform classics as they’ve never been seen before; and to celebrate the new by staging the works of emerging playwrights. Without a permanent home, the company staged its inaugural Shakespeare show in a bar. And they continue with their clever adaptation of space. The Outdoor Forest Theater (Santa Rita and Mountainview), is framed by pines—an historical gem opened in 1910. The Indoor Forest Theater has some history, too. The intimate space was constructed by the WPA in 1940 and now houses PacRep’s School of Dramatic Arts. Golden Bough Playhouse is two theaters in one: Founders Theatre welcomes full-scale productions and concerts; Circle Theatre is a smaller theater-in-the-round, featuring original pieces and innovative takes on classics.
