She had a way of making people feel cared for and welcome. If she had a home, you had a home. Her door, her heart, and her life were always open to those she loved. One of Katherine’s most lasting legacies was role she played in creating the Big Sur Health Center alongside Dr. Saul Kunitz. Together, they imagined, built, and grew the health center from the ground up, dedicating many years of their lives to serving the Big Sur community. When the time came for them to move on, they did so only after making sure the health center was in good hands, hands they trusted to continue the dream they had built together. Katherine is survived by her daughter Rebecca and her granddaughter Nora, who was the light of her life. The love they shared was something truly special, pure, deep, and rich, and a joy for all who witnessed it. She is also survived by her sisters, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends whose lives she touched with her kindness, generosity, and love. Her memory will live on in all of those who were fortunate enough to know her, love her, and call her family or friend.
