www.montereycountynow.com MAY 21-27, 2026 MONTEREY COUNTY WEEKLY 17 Clip ‘n’ Vote The Weekly editorial board’s handy guide to voting in the June 2 primary election. Our editorial board’s endorsement process is based on interviews with candidates for local office and written questionnaires, as well as the past records of candidates. (You can read more about our reasoning in the May 7 print edition of the Weekly, or online at montereycountynow.com.) The list below is not exhaustive of our election coverage. The candidates below reflect the races in which our editorial board made endorsements, and are the people who we think are best equipped to take Monterey County, the state and the nation forward. Whether or not you agree with our suggestions, we encourage you to vote. To register to vote, find a list of dropbox and in-person voting locations, and more, visit montereycountyelections.us. Election Day is Tuesday, June 2 and polls are open from 7am-8pm. Mail-in ballots postmarked by that date will be accepted until June 9; no postage is required. Mail-in ballots can also be hand-delivered to one of 22 drop boxes located around Monterey County. Of those, 19 are available 24/7. For a map of drop boxes and details on early voting locations and hours, visit the Elections Department website or call (831) 796-1499. The Weekly editorial board is Founder & CEO Bradley Zeve, Publisher Erik Cushman and Editor Sara Rubin. The judgments of our editorial board are made independently of the Weekly’s news team.
