www.montereycountynow.com MAY 14-20, 2026 MONTEREY COUNTY WEEKLY 31 MUSIC Fields of Eden will be joined by Kiki Wow and the Wowettes for two performances that promise to bring crowds to their feet. Consisting of founder Greg Edenfield on drums, Brad Wright on guitar and Mark Whittington on bass, Fields of Eden draws from Edenfield’s high-level record engineering background. Instead of chasing a polished, overproduced sound, the setlist is built on musicianship. But the technical foundation is only half the story. The bridge between that precision and the audience is Edenfield’s wife, known professionally as Kiki Wow, who brings the human spark that ignites the band’s engine. Wow has a love for people that connects with the audience. And she believes that a bigger stage only makes for a better experience, which is why she invited the Wowettes. Amber Guzman and Kimb Massey give the band a fuller, chorus-like sound rarely found in a classic rock cover band. “I don’t have to tell the girls what to do,” Wow says. “It’s a feel thing. Like if someone’s covering high, the other will take the low. It’s ear magic.” But the Wowettes do more than just harmonize. Each has a signature style that can shine on its own. Massey takes the lead on “Kiss Me” and “Harvest Moon,” adding texture with the melodica and flute. Guzman has a playful confidence. As she finishes off the last verse of “Chain of Fools,” she holds up a finger to silence the band and then ruffles her hair before a loud, exaggerated finale. The set lives on instinct. During “Mustang Sally,” as Wright leans into the bridge, Wow steps behind Guzman for a ZZ Top-style back-andforth move. None of it is planned. “We don’t have that pressure to be perfect—it’s just fun,” Wow says. She is excited to have Pamma Jamma—Pamela Charlles Arthur, known as the “Goddess of Groove”— join on keys. With a magnetic personality and a style rooted in blues and rhythm, she adds another layer to the band’s sound. She’ll join with no runthrough, just a setlist and a first pass when she lands. “It’s like a blind date,” Wow says. For Wow, the payoff is what happens offstage as much as on. The crowd doesn’t stay seated for long. Fields of Eden with Kiki Wow and the Wowettes play 7:30pm Friday, May 15 at Links Club, Ocean and MIssion, Carmel. No cover.
