www.montereycountynow.com APRIL 16-22, 2026 MONTEREY COUNTY WEEKLY 31 MUSIC Stonies Taphouse & Bistro brings the “fyah,” as Chilean headliner Quique Neira performs in an intentionally intimate setting, joined by Elenah and Salinas-based The Rudians, who will also handle sound, staging and production. “Latinos love Spanish music and Americans are just catching on,” explains Rudians member Giovanny Longoria, who is excited to add to their growing fanbase with this show. “Anytime we do a show at Stonies, it’s a good turnout and we have a good time.” The venue also carries personal significance. The band credits Sergio Alejo, one of Stonies’ owners, for giving them an opportunity early on. After his death from cancer in 2024, the group began dedicating each performance to his memory. Those shows have become part of a larger effort. The Rudians host two events a year at Stonies, each one getting bigger and better. This year marks a step up, with the addition of Neira, an internationally recognized reggae artist who made his first U.S. appearances last year and now returns for only three shows. Joining him is San Jose’s Elenah (David Saenz), whose upbeat fusion of roots reggae and Latin soul brings a high-energy, danceable contrast to the lineup. Saenz calls the opportunity to share the stage, backing up Neira as well as sharing his own act, “a dream come true.” For The Rudians, this is a chance to show out in front of a hometown crowd. Their sound draws from Salinas and the Central Coast, shaped by local experiences and the nearby coastline, with an emphasis on authenticity and lived perspective. The night concludes with Neira, whose sound is defined by a smooth, melodic tenor and socially conscious lyrics. Having emerged from a period of dictatorship in Chile, Neira never expected his music to reach beyond his neighborhood. In this intimate setting, he moves beyond his arena-sized reputation. “Connecting with people who feel my music in a real and meaningful way” is deeply fulfilling, Neira says. The night is not over once the music stops. Neira will remain to greet the crowd. Longoria says he stands out for taking the time to connect, greet fans and share stories in a way artists at that level rarely do. Quique Neira, Elenah and the Rudians perform at 8pm Saturday, Sept. 18. Stonies Taphouse & Bistro, 1366 S. Main St., Salinas, $30; $35/at the door. (831) 2020632, eventbrite.com.
