CITY OF SALINAS PATRICIA SORATOS City Clerk of Salinas Chiyoko Kimura McGee March 14, 1931–March 23, 2026 Chiyoko Kimura McGee passed away unexpectedly on March 23, 2026 in Monterey, CA. She had just celebrated her 95th birthday. Born in Osaka, Japan on March 14, 1931, she was the youngest of 5 children to Riyokichi and Umeno Kimura. Married on June 18, 1953 to James H. McGee (deceased), she lived on the Monterey Peninsula for 64 years, a majority of that time in Marina. She is survived by her son Patrick McGee and daughter Nancy Andina (husband Karl). She is also survived by her grandson, Sean Smith (wife Katie), great grandchildren Keira and Sully, granddaughter Shannon Brandow (husband Michael), great grandchildren Ender, Atlas, and Ronin, and step grandchildren Zachary, Harrison, and Savanna. She loved to sing and play piano, and she enjoyed creating Japanese Kanji calligraphy. She was a member for the First Baptist Church in Marina for many years. And she was an avid dog lover of many breeds but mostly Chihuahuas: Poco, Penny, Nickle, Candy, Coco, and Princess. A memorial service will be held on April 10, 2026 at 10 am at the Mission Memorial Chapel in Seaside, CA.
