every child and family has the support they need to thrive. I am continually inspired by Seneca’s unwavering commitment to fostering a brighter future for our children and our community.” -Nicki Pasculli STEVENSON SCHOOL Year Founded: 1952 Paid Staff and Volunteers: 195 paid, 300 volunteers Budget: $39,550,000 (831) 625-8300 stevensonschool.org BIG IDEA: At Stevenson School, a Big Idea means $8 million. That’s how much financial aid students received this fiscal year at Pebble Beach’s independent private school for prekindergarten-12th grade. Stevenson high schoolers received $6.5 million in assistance, with $3.7 million staying local with commuter students. Approximately 38 percent of Stevenson’s elementary and middle school students, all from Monterey County, received aid. You can support a core belief of Stevenson School: Financial limitations should never prevent any student from all that Stevenson offers. “I am deeply grateful for the assistance that made it possible for me to attend Stevenson, which was an opportunity I would not have had without your support. Because of your generosity, I was able to fully participate in everything Stevenson offers, from inspiring guest lectures to discovering my passion in the theater program, where I built lasting friendships. These experiences shaped who I am today. None of this would have been possible without the financial aid that opened the door for me. This fall, I will attend Sarah Lawrence College to study technical theater. I’m excited to continue growing, and I’ll carry the strong foundation Stevenson gave me into my next chapter. Thank you for helping make my Stevenson experience possible.” -Anonymous UNITED WAY MONTEREY COUNTY Year Founded: 2000 Paid Staff and Volunteers: 19 paid, 816 volunteers Budget: $3,934,637 (831) 372-8026 unitedwaymcca.org BIG IDEA: Donors can join United Way Monterey County in its multi-year initiative to build a strong educational foundation throughout the county. This nonprofit invests in programs across the continuum of academic needs, from Family, Friends, and Neighbors—which supports high-quality early childhood care—to the Spring School Spruce Up initiative to enhance outdoor learning spaces. Stuff the Bus, Preschool Service Corps…United Way Monterey County is full of Big Ideas to support learning for a range of ages. “I first started coming to the United Way Monterey County’s Family, Friends, and Neighbors program with my granddaughter. I wanted her to have a place to play and spend time with other children. At that time, I was only caring for my grandchildren because I felt taking care of other children was too big of a responsibility. Recently, that changed, and I began caring for more children along with my granddaughter. It hasn’t always been easy, but I’m adjusting. I feel more confident as a caregiver. I’m grateful for this program—for what my granddaughter is learning, for the support I receive, and the friendships I’ve built with other caregivers.” -Margarita Gonzalez WORLD AFFAIRS COUNCIL MONTEREY BAY Year Founded: 1951 Paid Staff and Volunteers: 0 paid, 38 volunteers Budget: $61,800 (831) 643-1855 wacmb.org BIG IDEA: Building global awareness and communication and leadership skills in teens is more relevant now than ever.
