This year that means an extensive lineup of historic and modern Formula 1 race cars in celebration of the series’ 75th anniversary. You will find the famed machines at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, on the Concours d’Elegance lawn and cornering WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca’s Corkscrew during the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion. Marques such as Chrysler and Moretti turn 100 (Concours d’Elegance), while the Shelby Mustang GT350 (The Quail) and Shelby Cobra 427 (Concours) are 60 this year. There is much more packed into the 35 or so events that make up Car Week 2025. But it’s the lasting appeal of the Cobra, the excitement evident in the first appearance of IROC racers at Laguna Seca and three cars—two at Mecum Auctions, one at Pebble Beach—that show the changing nature of collecting that are featured in these pages.
