Saturday, June 28 A DECADE OF DOGS More than a decade ago, the Seaside City Council designated a nearly two-acre plot on Kimball Avenue and Noche Buena Street as an off-leash dog park. Yet years later, it still wasn’t fully enclosed, forcing dogs to stay constrained to their leashes. A group of frustrated residents and their dogs decided to do something about it, and in 2015, raised enough money to complete the fencing at the Pacchetti Dog Park, finally turning it into a place where canines could run off-leash. It’s been a decade since that effort, and to celebrate, the public and their fourlegged family members are invited to a party, with cake for the humans and bandannas and free nail clipping for the dogs. [EC] 11am-1pm Saturday, June 28. Pacchetti Dog Park, Kimball Avenue and Noche Buena Street, Seaside. Free. 521-0577, pacchettidogpark.org. BREW CREW When it comes to beer, you have options with names and styles that seemingly encompass every letter of the alphabet multiple times over. Up to 40 breweries will pour their craft, including local favorites such as Hops & Fog in Pacific Grove and Other Brother Beer Co. in Seaside, among others, as well as more throughout the state and beyond. And you can’t have beer without food and music, which the Bay Brew Fest will have in strides. Grab your friends and have a taste (or many). [EC] 1-4pm Saturday, June 28. WAILIN’ HARMONIES The Wailin’ Jennys launched as a folk group steeped in soaring harmonies over 20 years ago and very quickly collected a bevvy of dedicated fans. “We have a very dedicated and strong following that have kept on us, asking us: ‘When’s the next record coming out?’ ‘When are you getting back on the road?’ So there’s always been this pull from the fan base,” said Nicky Mehta, a co-founding member in 2002. Their last record, Fifteen, was released in 2017 marking their 15-year anniversary, as a gift to fans. Mehta, co-founder Ruth Moody and Heather Masse, along with their band, are on a new U.S. tour, giving fans another chance to hear their beloved harmonies in person. [PM] 8pm Friday, June 27.
