A PETITION FOR PROBATE HAS BEEN FILED BY: KRISTOPHER MASHBURN in the Superior Court of California, County of Monterey. THE PETITION FOR PROBATE requests Roberto Maceira Oct. 9, 1969 – Jan. 25, 2025 Roberto “Berto” Antonio Maceira passed away on January 25, 2025 of cancer at the age of 55. Berto loved to make jokes and delighted in making people laugh. He was known for bringing a smile to the faces of everyone around him. At any event he was always the one making sure everyone was having a good time. To his nieces and nephews, he was known as “Uncle Buck” for his embodiment of the larger-than-life John Candy character in the movie of the same name. Born on the former Fort Ord army base to Margaret Iris Maceira and Mario Antonio Maceira Pagan, he spent the bulk of his life on the Monterey Peninsula. Though he lived out of the area in his final years, he always called Monterey County home and had planned to return before his passing. Roberto had many ties in the community and could not walk down the street without running into several friends or acquaintances happy to see him. Roberto is survived by five children (Alexis Maceira, Christian Maceira, Vanya Maceira, Paloma Maceira & Mateo Maceira). He will be missed.
