www.montereycountynow.com AUGUST 22-28, 2024 MONTEREY COUNTY WEEKLY 27 Sunday on the Main Stage, multi-instrumentalist and genre-blurring artist Joe Craven will headline with his band, The Sometimers. Known for their “No genre left behind” motto, Joe Craven & The Sometimers deliver an exhilarating blend of music that defies categorization, making them a must-see act. Sharing the stage on Sunday, the Carolyn Sills Combo, an award-winning Western Swing group, will treat the audience to a set filled with twanging guitars, swooning steel, and sharp songwriting. The band’s performance will resonate with fans of Americana and roots music. River Voices, a six-piece group fronted by Jaqui Hope and Linda Arceo, will be debuting their first EP, Heart on Her Sleeve. On the Redwood Stage Saturday, Sensory Tribe will headline with their signature blend of Latin, hip hop, and reggae. This eight-member band from Monterey has been making waves in the local music scene with their infectious rhythms and dynamic performances. They’ll be joined by the Rayburn Brothers, whose blend of folk, rock, and Americana has earned them a dedicated following. Earlier in the day, The Transducers will deliver their versatile mix of rock, funk, and pop, while Dan Frechette & Laurel Thomsen will offer a more intimate, roots-folk performance. Sunday’s Redwood Stage lineup includes the Latin Jazz Collective, a high-energy ensemble that has received standing ovations at events like the Monterey Jazz Festival. The Rudians will also perform, bringing their danceable reggae vibes to the stage. The day will also feature performances by Katherine Lavin, a young singer-songwriter from Pacific Grove, and Three Twenty Five, a band known for their tight harmonies and catchy tunes. For the fourth consecutive year, Hear & Now Monterey has curated an exciting lineup of young, independent acts from Monterey County. The stage— located at the intersection of Redwood and Contra Costa—will feature some of the most promising new talent in the area. Morticai, Kevin Proctor + Razzvio, and Peter Barnes Martin Band are among the acts scheduled to perform, ensuring that this stage remains a highlight for festival-goers looking to discover fresh, local sounds.
