Capturing your audience’s attention and telling them your story is the key to communicating in this competitive media environment. Access Media Productions serves local government, community organizations and the general public, helping everyone join the evolving conversation. AMP’s Big Idea supports its operating costs, doing everything from broadcasting city council meetings to livestreaming beloved community concerts. “Much thanks to the crew at AMP world headquarters for facilitating the livestream of the Pops! orchestra concert. The concert drew over 1,200 appreciative guests, plus online attendance.” -Doug Lee Alliance on Aging Year Founded: 1970 Paid Staff and Volunteers: 32 paid, 214 volunteers Budget: $6,557,564 655-7564 allianceonaging.org Big Idea: The Hub, a centralized resource center for seniors operated by the Alliance on Aging, seeks donations to maintain the momentum around its Big Idea. Today, the Hub hosts diabetes workshops and braille classes and reports “quite a crowd” at its ballroom dancing and beginner bridge groups. In addition to all the fun, The Hub also provides practical services like help processing tax returns, with experts at The Hub helping seniors receive more than $1.2 million in refunds. “To the broader public, the Alliance on Aging is known as ‘that place’ where you get your taxes done for free when you reach a certain age. But, as I learned for myself, it is so much more than that. It is a caring community that helps seniors build, not only new skills, but also new friendships. As we age, we tend to lose both of those things. With classes such as healthy cooking, safe driving, technology training, yoga, ballroom dancing, art and more, the Alliance on Aging Hub brings people together throughout the year who share similar interests. For many seniors like me, that feels way more important than getting your taxes done once a year.” -CJ Jackson American Red Cross of the Central Coast Year Founded: 1906 Paid Staff and Volunteers: 7 paid, 390 volunteers Budget: $2,876,499 624-6921 redcross.org/local/california/northern-california-coastal Big Idea: Delivering expert help, whenever and wherever needed, is the Big Idea of the American Red Cross of the Central Coast. Whether it’s wildfires or flooding, this nonprofit mobilizes to identify local partners and organize efficient relief services. Did you know the Red Cross also helps if an individual’s home burns down? More than 400 volunteers respond to home fires each year, helping find permanent housing for people who are displaced and helping kids replace beloved items. “Every time there’s a disaster, the Red Cross never fails. You guys are angels in disguise. We really appreciate the time and effort you put into the community; you don’t know how valuable it is.” -Gilberto Nunez All In Monterey Year Founded: 2020 Paid Staff and Volunteers: 0 paid, 1,500 volunteers Budget: $50,000 256-2385 allinmonterey.org Big Idea: Born during the multiplying crises of 2020, All In Monterey has grown to support continuing community needs and now serves 5,000 Monterey County residents. The nonprofit says it delivers “kindness,” which means everything from clothing and food to hosting events for children in foster care during the holidays. This nimble organization mobilized its volunteers to provide relief after the devastating storms this past winter in Pajaro, San Ardo, Big Sur and Carmel Valley. Donations help support operational costs like warehouse rent and fuel so this growing group can provide support wherever it is needed next. “It has been wonderful working with All In Monterey. Their help and support throughout the 2022-2023 winter storms has been astounding. They provided structure and organization to the distribution of donations for residents impacted by the rains and the flooding. Their humane approach when engaging residents and helping them to meet their needs really puts them ahead of the game when it comes to serving vulnerable residents. The County of Monterey Department of Emergency Management supports All In Monterey, and we look forward to having them as allies in the future.” -Daniel Gonzalez, Department of Emergency Management spotlight The experience was life-changing in all good ways.” Bob McGuire, Breakthrough for Men
