There’s a reason this campy, sexy, funny musical is a cult classic. The mad scientist Dr. Frank-N-Furter is the same murderous person as he was in the original 1970s production, perfect for Halloween vibes (and midnight showings). But his bloodthirsty intentions are tempered by hit songs that never get old. Tunes like “Time Warp” and “Sweet Transvestite” are a delight in live performance—and also part of our cultural fabric. Year after year, the cast and crew at Paper Wing gives this iconic play their all, so audiences can experience The Rocky Horror Show!, and all of the laughs, live. [SR] 8pm Fridays, 8pm and midnight Saturdays, Oct. 6-31. Paper Wing Theatre, 711 Cannery Row, Monterey. $35. 9055684, paperwing.com. Buying a ticket (if applicable) or just showing up to the following events helps support Monterey County’s artistic culture. Have fun out there. -Tajha Chappellet-Lanier, associate editor Go to calendar.montereycountyweekly.com for up-to-date events all season long. Fall Arts Calendar 2023 Oct. 7-8 SpectorDance Choreographers’ Showcase Dance is movement, art and storytelling. Nobody locally conveys that like SpectorDance does, through a variety of performances. The nonprofit’s annual Choreographers’ Showcase puts that philosophy on stage with works by a variety of choreographers, from local artists to international award-winners. The mix of dances reflects a mix of their interests—some works may carry a clear political message, others may be technical spectacles of physicality, and surely some will strive simply to capture the beauty of the human form in motion. This is a celebration of it all. [SR] 2-4pm Saturday, Oct. 7 and Sunday, Oct. 8. Outdoor Forest Theater, Mountain View and Santa Rita, Carmel. $25. spectordance.org. Cory Cullington
